My Practicum and What I Learned:
For my practicum, I participated in the course, BMGT495. This course was focused on strategic management in the business world. This course met twice a week, and was centered around cases about different companies and their work. We completed case matrices and quizzes in order to assess our knowledge of the cases.
Through these assignments, I learned how to assess a company's health, and develop strategic recommendations using various frameworks. Also, I developed a deeper understanding of how different factors, both internal and external, can affect the health of a company.
How I Have Grown:
Through this practicum, I have grown as a leader, student, and professional because I have learned how managers think and how they work to improve their companies. Also, through the various case matrices I completed, I grew in my understanding of how to evaluate a company's health and provide strategic recommendations. Below, I have included an example of one of the case matrices I completed on Samsung Electronics.
Moving Forward:
In the future, I will be able to use what I learned from my practicum experience in my professional life. For example, I will have a deeper understanding of ways to improve different types of companies, which will allow me to benefit any company I work for.
For the rest of my time at the University of Maryland, I will continue to pursue my degrees in accounting and finance, and I one day hope to complete the Plus One Program and receive a master's degree in quantitative finance.
After graduating, I want to eventually work in financial services and hopefully hold a leadership position at whatever company I work for.
Using My Knowledge From PL In My Job Search:
In PL, my understanding of different forms of leadership grew immensely. In my job search, I will be able to use my knowledge of leadership to demonstrate why I would be an asset to any company. Also, I learned about managing companies through my practicum, so I will be able to use that knowledge to help me as I continue to gain more leadership positions throughout my career.
